Vanessa has been very fortunate to have travelled to some amazing places around the world for whale research.
Here are some photos from the field:
Vanessa was fortunate to have travelled down to Antarctica on the RV Investigator. Vanessa was the ship’s marine mammal observer and was able to see whales swimming around ice for the very first time!
Just after Vanessa submitted her PhD, she travelled to beautiful Madagascar for whale snot research.
Vanessa thoroughly enjoyed her time in Tonga. Vanessa work closely with the local community and learnt a lot about the humpback whales in the area.
Opportunistic cetacean sightings in the Galapagos islands.
Vanessa’s most well-known whale research was conducted off Australia’s biggest city. Above you can see our whale snot drone, northward migrating humpback whales and the city skyline.
